Sightseeing in London, including visits to St. Pauls Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. A visit to the magnificent fjord country of Western Norway, including a cruise along the Lysefjord to see the Pulpit Rock.
We’ll be in Stavanger to participate in the International Food Festival. Stop in Copenhagen, the wonderful Danish capital. In Sweden, visit ancestral places, meet people, see great scenery and experience culture. The tour is relaxed and will not require a great deal of walking.
July 24: Leave Austin via British Airways non-stop to London
July 25: Arrival at Heathrow Airport where a private bus will meet us to take Us on a guided tour of the hightlights of London. Included will be the Museum of the City of London, Westminster Abbey and St. Paul’s among other famous sights after which we will return to the airport to continue to Stavanger, Norway.
Overnight at the Rica Hotel at Sola airport.
July 26: Embark on a cruise on the Lysefjord to the outstanding Pulpit Rock towering over the water. Experience the International Food Festival after lunch at the seafood restaurant, Sjohuset Skagen and the cruise. Overnight at the Rica Hotel.
July 27: Fly from Stavanger to Stockholm via a stop in Copenhagen, Denmark. Arrive around 11 a.m. and tour in the Danish capital in a private bus until 5 p.m. Fly to Arlanda Airport, Stockholm, and transfer to our hotel, driving via Uppsala, to the Elite Hotel, Gävle. We’ll pass the famous mounds and the cathedral.
July 28: Leave by private bus for our Swedish life-seeing and genealogical tour. Excursion to Järvsö in Hälsingland so well known for the numerous decorated farm houses. Return to Gävle in time to visit Trödje, a seaside village and visit with Charlene’s family over dinner. Overnight Elite Hotel, Gävle.
July 29: Drive to Falun in picturesque folkloric Dalarna. Visit the artist Carl Larsson’s house before a driving tour to the old copper smelter’s quarter. Drive past the copper mine and through the town. Clarion Collection Hotel Bergmästaren.
July 30: Visit family places and churches in the Örebro area. Overnight Hotel Högland, Nässjö.
July 31: Full day of visiting family places, churches and interesting/scenic sites. Hotel Högland, Nässjö.
Aug 01: Full day of visiting family places, churches and interesting/scenic sites. Hotel Högland.
Aug 02: Full day of visiting family places, churches and interesting/scenic sites in this area famous for its red cottages, evergreen forests and sparkling lakes. Overnight at Hotel Högland.
Aug 03: Opportunity to attend church services in the morning. After lunch, participate in the Barkeryd Hembygdsfest festivities. Overnight at Elite Stadshotellet, Eskilstuna.
Aug 04: Visit family places and historic/scenic sites in Östra and Västra Vingåker. Elite Stadshotellet, Eskilstuna.
Aug 05: Sightsee enroute and in Stockholm. Best Western Park Airport Hotel, Arlandastad.
Aug 06: Return flight(s) to USA.
